It's hard to believe how quickly this summer has flown by! I signed a lease to move back up to Nashville in two weeks and I'm scrambling to juggle work, friends/family, and moving. The key, I've learned, is to stay organized.
Since I've been organizing SO much lately, I thought I'd share some tips and share a few of my favorite projects with you!
So here goes:
These little cable "holders" are extremely useful in keeping your desk tidy! I don't know about you, but my desk is one of the hardest areas for me to keep clean because between papers, books, iPods, and everything else it's always a mess.
2. Reduce Clutter with (Decorative) File Folders
I would definitely say I'm a clean person, but I also get easily overwhelmed with clutter. Sometimes it gets difficult to determine what is needed and what isn't and here is a trick that has really helped me out. Create a file folder box and fill it with important documents and literally pitch everything else.
Try making categories like "Home," "Bills," "Important Letters," "Insurance," etc.
I also have files like "Sermon notes not yet recorded" and "Writing Ideas."
If it doesn't matter to you, go for the cheap manila colored file folders, but if like me and wouldn't mind a little pizazz, there are tons of cute ones like pictured above from Whitney English.
3. Increase Closet Space
It's amazing how much time we waste in the closet! Invest in a few vertical storage systems to increase space like these pants hangers or this shoe/boot hanger.
4. GET A LABEL MAKER
My life has been changed since I got a label maker. As silly as it seems, this little machine not only makes items easier to find quickly, but for those of us who are visual learners, causes us to remember the right place for everything (and keep everything in its place.)
4. Utilize Vertical Space
Never forget the importance of vertical space utilization to stay organized. The proper shelving not only look stylish, but keeps smaller items easily accessible at a moment's notice.
For example, this shelving unit from organize.com is the perfect place to get wine bottles, glasses, and other similar items out of the way, but allows you easy access.
Hope that helps you! Let me know if you have any other tips for a smooth move!
