My New Motto

I've been doing a lot of thinking lately about my future and where I'm at in life.
I'm about to graduate from college and I'm in the process of applying for jobs...
one job I really, really want and the rest I'm kind of "eh" about.

However, the reoccurring thought I keep struggling with is not just "What if I don't get 'the' job," but "What if I don't even get a job!" And, I know that is probably irrational and kind of silly, but I have to think that I'm not the only one who feels that way.

I realize that thinking like this isn't going to get me anywhere, so I've resolved not to be afraid of the uncertain and the unknown, but to put it aside and be brave. I know God's got a plan for my life and He hasn't brought me this far to leave me. He never has and I have no reason to believe he is going to now!

Is there something in your life that is stressing you out or scaring you? Be brave with me and let's face it!

I love this. Life is scary. Trying new things is scary. Stepping out of your comfort zone and following your heart is scary. Go for it, lady!

I worry about this kind of thing all the time! I'm only a junior, so I have another year and a half until I graduate, but the future still kind of looms over me. Whenever I get nervous, I try to think about all the possibilities I have. Rather than focusing on uncertainty, I imagine all the adventures I haven't yet experienced. In that light, it's tremendously exciting!

I totally agree. While I've been out of college a few years, I'm back on the job market and am terrified I won't get "the job" I so desperately desire. It's scary to put yourself out there but if you don't do things that scare you, you won't grow, so it's smart to constantly challenge yourself. Good luck with your upcoming graduation and job search. I'm sure you'll get "the job" but even if things don't work out as planned, sometimes the unexpected turns out to be even better. You're going to do great! :)

i'm graduated and am looking and looking and looking for a job. but honestly, at least in my area, jobs are a bit scarce because of the super awesome economy. :P i'm sure it's like this everywhere, though. it's so discouraging sometimes, but i know there's a job out there for me somewhere... god's just waiting for his perfect time. :) i need to remind myself of this everyday!

I'm in a similar situation, but I'm a junior and looking for internships that will help me get a better job next semester! It's so frustrating, and I constantly have to remind myself just to pray about it. I know that God will give me the internship, and ultimately the job, that he wants me to have.

I'm terrible at being very direct with people I don't know, but I emailed a stranger asking him to create a job in their company for something think I could do really well and would benefit them.

Pressing send was terrifying!!!

yes, be brave!! i know that feeling that leaves you so fearful of the unknown. i am constantly giving myself pep talks. all will turn out well. you're on the right path just by being willing to face the unknown!

So, I just found out that I didn't get "the" job I wanted... but I guess that means that this is my chance to truly practice what I preach.

Keep Calm and Carry On
